Biography Overview

Ignacio J. Segurola was born in Havana, Cuba, and came to the Miami in 1979. He attended the University of Miami where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society as well as a member of the Dean’s List and other honor rolls at the school. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1995 and went on to the University of Florida College of Law in Gainesville, Florida. He was the President of the Spanish American Law Students Association, a Director in the Law College Council, the school’s student government, and a member of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity. During this time he interned with the Public Defender’s Office in Miami and clerked at High, Stack, Palahach & Lazenby in Coral Gables, Florida. Ignacio received a Juris Doctor Degree in 1998 and became an associate at High Stack that same year after becoming a member of the Florida Bar.

In 1999 Ignacio left High Stack and established Ignacio J. Segurola, P.A., also in Coral Gables. In 2000 he became one of the founding partners of Del Amo & Segurola, PL, which had offices in Coral Gables, Florida, and West Palm Beach, Florida. In 2005 Ignacio left that firm and continued representing his client’s interests at The Law Offices of Ignacio J. Segurola, P.A. Ignacio practices in the areas of personal injury, automobile insurance claims, civil rights, civil litigation and immigration. He is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Ignacio was on the Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Bar Association from 2000 to 2005 and is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Association. In 2010 he was named as one of Florida’s Legal Elite by Florida Trend Magazine. He is an AV Preeminent rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell.

Ignacio has also dedicated time to serving his community by being elected to the position of Councilmember in the Village of Key Biscayne for the 2018-2022 term. He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Key Biscayne Underground Utility Task Force from 2017 until 2018 and then, after being elected, served as the Council Liaison for the Task Force.
